“MARCH 2017 AS ADWA VICTORY MONTH” Montgomery County, MD – EHSNA PR

For immediate release: 3/3/17

Ethiopian Heritage Society in North America (EHSNA) is proud to announce that on this 121st Anniversary of the Victory of the Battle of Adwa, the Honorable Isiah Leggett, Executive, Montgomery County, MD has proclaimed:

“MARCH 2017 AS ADWA VICTORY MONTH”

EHSNA believes this may be the Second time such an honor has ever been bestowed on this historical Victory. This has happened despite the apparent presence of documented facts that, the great victory Ethiopia achieved against the invading Italian forces, with outstanding leadership of Emperor Menilik II and his right arm Queen Taitu, was a major world historical event not only to Ethiopians but to black people worldwide. We hope this recognition by the Executive of Montgomery County will set an example for others to follow.

Finally, in behalf of EHSNA and those millions Ethiopians who are proud admirers of the Victory of the Battle of Adwa, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Isiah Leggett for this historical proclamation he passed. We encourage the Ethiopian community to join EHSNA and celebrate the 121st Anniversary of the Victory of Adwa, on March 4, ( 12 – 4:30PM),where we will take the opportunity to formally thank and recognize Mr. Leggett for his support.

The event will be held at the Civic Building, One Veteran Place, Silver Spring, Maryland, 20910.
